Position Description
The Muslim Chaplain at Seattle University supports Muslim students by providing worship services, religious support and programs that promote and build inclusive and vibrant community. As a part of the Campus Ministry team, this part time position works in collaboration on programs and efforts to support plural religious community in an effort to strengthen the Universities Jesuit Catholic mission. The position reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministry and is a pilot experience for the Winter and Spring Quarters of 2025
Essential Job Functions
Accompaniment and spiritual support of Muslim students primarily, with some overlap with supporting staff and faculty (40%)
Work with Muslim Student Association and other Muslim student leaders to develop religious services and gatherings on campus (20%)
Oversee and develop inventory and administration of current Muslim prayer spaces (10%)
Participate, collaborate and engage in inter-religious programing in partnership with Campus Ministry, Theology and Religious Studies, Mission Integration and the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (10%)
Provide spiritual leadership and accompaniment of all students with a spirit of spiritual and religious inclusivityand educate the community about Islam (10%)
Attend team and division meetings where appropriate and engage in necessary administrative tasks such as room scheduling, maintaining budget for programs and working with marketing to share and communicate offerings. (10%
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications:
Designation as an Imam by a Muslim religious authority
An MDivmaster's degree in Islamic studies or related
At least 2-3 years of experience in a university setting
Familiarity and passion around Jesuit educational values

Compensation At a Glance
Salary Range: 35.00 per hour
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
