Associate Director, Accounting

As a Associate Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned Mission staff. In addition, this position is responsible for accurate and timely issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and for preparing financial packages according to GAAP. The Associate Director of Accounting is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating the completion of the annual fiscal year-end audit, and any sub audits needed and producing year-end financial reports.

Starting Salary: $105,579.00

Scheduled: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

How you will serve

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Financial Reporting
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of Financial Statements, reports, and records, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning purposes.
• Develop and implement adequate internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets, mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
• Supervise and mentor a team of Accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and ensure high-quality work.
• Coordinate and support eh year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors and provide all necessary documentation and schedules.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and presentations for senior management, the board of directors and other stakeholders.
• Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, regulations and industry best practices and provide guidance and recommendations for their implementation.
• Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within the accounting function and lead or participate in initiatives to implement these improvements.
• Support special projects, such as system implementations or process reengineering by providing accounting expertise and financial analysis.

How you qualify

• Acknowledge and sign the Mission's Statement of Faith (see below).
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field is required.
• 7 years of experience in Accounting/Finance leadership/management role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounts, financial reporting standards and related regulation is required.
• Proficient to advanced knowledge of accounting software. MIP or a similar system is highly preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Occasionally you will stand, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds and walks, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within the company. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
