General Description: Med-Legal Coordinator provides administrative and secretarial support for the physicians. In addition to typing, filing and scheduling, performs duties such as coordinating meetings, depositions, court appearances, and special projects. Assembles highly confidential and sensitive information with specific deadlines. Deals with attorneys/paralegals and diverse group of patients/clients. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload.
- Organize, review and read all medical records/files/films and prepare drafts and schedule for narrative reports and Plaintiff IME’s with specific deadlines ·
- Ability to speak to doctors regarding reports and cases.
- Speak with attorneys/paralegals regarding their files and cases
- Answer telephones within the department and assist with various requests and inquiries
- Prepare legal forms and documents for the doctors’ review and signature
- Assist department manager with review requests for depositions, trials and phone conferences. Contact the doctors for their availability and coordinate scheduling. Prepare cases, files and physicians for scheduled depositions and court appearances/testimony
- Assisting with mail within the department, reviewing, sorting and ability to handle requests received
- Assist with department overflow work
- All other duties as assigned
Work Experience/Requirements: ·
- Legal experience required
- Knowledge of court procedures
- Medical terminology program or equivalent work experience
- Multi-provider scheduling experience
- Ability to multi-task, must be well organized
- Knowledge of EMR, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to summarize medical records and reports Personal injury experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
