Job Title: Director of Fundraising and Development, Second Harvest Food Bank of ECI
Status: Full Time, exempt Salary Range: $72,000- $75,000 depending on experience
Place in the Organization:
- Reports to the Chief Executive Officer in all aspects of development and administrative functions
- Grants Manager reports to this position as well as any future Fundraising and Development Team Positions
- Interns as assigned and recruited report to this position
- This position works closely with the members of the Marketing and Communications Team
Purpose:
Directs and leads the diverse work of the Fundraising and Development Team and all supporting and related personnel. Accountable for setting and achieving the fundraising and development goals of the organization by planning fundraising activities/events and growing and maintaining individual giving, corporate partnerships, and grant funding.
General Requirements & Duties:
- The ability to think creatively and to articulate the vision, mission, and impact of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- The ability to interact professionally with prospects and donors, volunteers, and staff
- Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects within tight deadlines
- The ability to successfully handle routine clerical and administrative tasks for annual giving, special events, campaigns, direct mail, and marketing programs
- The ability to absorb, calculate, and communicate hunger statistical data in the context of Second Harvest’s eight-county service area and six specific initiatives serving a variety of ages and ethnicities.
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- The ability to use discretion and independent judgment in time management to meet objectives
- Specific Responsibilities:
- Leads the work of the Fundraising and Development Team
- Coordinate Major Donor & Legacy relationships in partnership with the CEO
- Owner of a specific fundraising portfolio of mid-range donors
- Set fundraising and Development Goals to meet the financial requirements of the organization
- Lead the Development team in successfully facilitating all fundraising events and activities
- Conduct prospect research, and analysis, and create a strategy for prospect visits and follow-up
- Work cooperatively with the Marketing team to create all fundraising and marketing materials either electronic or in print related to fundraising events, campaigns, and any other donor-related marketing materials.
- Update and maintain an online database of prospects and donors (CRM is currently ETapestry)
- Assist with future capital campaigns
- All other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
Experience and Requirements for Hire:
- 5 years of Nonprofit development/fundraising or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Has experience in fundraising through one-on-one engagements and direct asks – and a track record of gifts.
- Comfortable working within a proven model and framework – and can self-motivate to focus on the activities that drive results
- Supervisory experience of one or more employees
- Provide a positive presence in a teamwork environment
- Event/meeting planning experience a plus
- Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle
- Ability to bend and lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
- Ability to work with diverse personality types
