TITLE: HR Manager
EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Manager is responsible for helping guide all HR functions and activities such as employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations. Participates as a member of the Human Resources Committee to assist in making strategic and operational contributions that enhance the direction of the Food Bank.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BA/BS degree (preferred) plus 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, human resources, and/or related field, and 5-7 years of proven work experience or a combination of education and experience that will prove the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
2. Have strong relational and administrative skills with a proven ability to work well with teams and independently.
3. Excellent verbal, written and communication skills including facilitation and public speaking.
4. Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and excellent problem-solving skills.
5. May require overtime for the organization and work beyond normal working hours when necessary.
6. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, PHR-CA, SPHR, SPHR-CA, certification (preferred)
7. Pass organization paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints, if required.
8. Pass organization paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
9. Valid California driver’s license.
10. Proof of auto insurance coverage.

DUTIES:
1. Direct a process of organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design, and personnel resources for the agency. Ensure optimal staffing levels.
2. Direct a process of organizational development that addresses Food Bank issues including succession planning, workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, workflow efficiency and change management.
3. Create organizations strategic training and organizational development plan to meet personal, professional, and organizational needs of agency employees.
4. Oversee compensation programs to ensure regulatory compliance and competitive salary levels.
5. Oversee the design and development of compensation strategy and programs.
6. Keeps Director of Finance & HR informed of actual or potential issues.
7. Enforces employee guidelines.
8. Maintains employee documentation relating to training, coaching, and counseling.
9. Provides teambuilding and ensures timely recognition for employees.
10. Assist the Director of Finance & HR with the administration of benefit programs to include health, dental, retirement, life insurance, disability insurance, and unemployment.
11. In coordination with department managers, develop and implement agency-wide training & educational programs including individualized plans for each employee tailored to their specific needs and duties.
12. Work with individual department managers for position replacements, conflict resolution, and employee disciplinary/corrective actions. Prior to any termination, secure permission from the Director of Finance & HR and CEO.
13. Assist all department managers with staff training and Human Resources best practices implementation.
14. Evaluate organization culture and provide recommendations on changes to accomplish agency goals and objectives.
15. Recommend changes in organization policies and procedures and communicate approved changes to employees.
16. Work with department managers and leadership team to develop five-year and ten-year staffing and succession plans for the organization.
17. Establishes standards of job performance; motivates staff through leadership and evaluation of work performance; coordinates staff activities to meet SHGV goals and objectives.
18. Manage hiring and exiting employee processes for all employees. Includes recruiting for job vacancies, postings, job announcements, interviewing, hiring, leaves of absence, benefit enrollment, and necessary exiting processes.
19. Provide orientation to all new employees to include use of employee handbook, explanation of benefits, and organizational structure.
20. Maintains and manages confidential personnel records to include benefits, performance evaluations, credentials, and personal information. Manages the development and maintenance of job descriptions, HR forms, and employee handbook as needed.
21. Provides assistance and counsel to all employees, as needed, regarding human resources issues.
22. Advise the Director of Finance & HR and Management Team on:
a. Organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity, harassment, diversity, etc., and makes recommendations as needed.
b. The implementation of new programs directed toward improving employee performance, morale, and wellness.
23. Demonstrates a commitment to understanding the mission of SHGV and a compassion and appreciation for hunger issues within our community.
24. Perform other duties as assigned.
