The California Secretary of State’s Business Programs Division is recruiting to fill a permanent, full-time Associate Governmental Program Analyst position in the Automation & Support Section.
Under the general supervision of a Staff Services Manager I and Staff Services Manager II, this position will work collaboratively with all levels of Business Programs Division and Information Technology Division staff and management to assist in business automation application development. Duties encompass the areas of policy and program evaluation, system development and modification, testing and implementation, and planning and research. The incumbent is responsible for developing and applying program knowledge and analytical techniques as they relate to automation development, testing and maintenance for furtherance of the Business Programs Division automation or as required by statute.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with business process decomposition and improvement.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience working on a team project, team building, or team management while interacting effectively with all levels of departmental personnel.
  • Strong collaborative skills.
  • Ability to think independently, analyze and solve complex problems, and recommend an effective course of action.
  • Ability to create, review, and edit clear and concise written reports.
  • Ability to make presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience with automation development tools and project management.
  • Candidates should be capable of creative and flexible thinking.
  • Candidates should have a good understanding of organizational techniques and time management skills, including techniques for prioritizing multiple projects to ensure completion by established deadlines.

Working Conditions

The position provides telework opportunities and Alternative Work Week schedules (9/8/80) based upon the agency’s telework policy and business needs. Additionally, on-site amenities include a cafeteria, childcare center, locker rooms, and indoor bicycle parking.
