What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate & BSA Compliance Intern position at SECU?
SECU is currently looking for qualified college students to join our 2025 Summer Internship Program. As an Intern, you will have significant learning opportunities on day-to-day projects in specific departments within SECU, while gaining exposure to the credit union and banking industry as a whole. Our Summer Internship Program will run approximately 10 weeks, starting on Monday, June 2, 2025. The ideal candidate must be able to work 32 hours a week during core hours of Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00 pm. Our internships are hybrid. Interns may need to come into the Linthicum, MD headquarters 1-2 time per week for work and also for new hire orientation and other intern cohort events.
We are seeking an intern for our Corporate & Banking Secrecy Act (BSA) Compliance projects. The intern will:
- Responsible for reviewing assigned Fair Lending alerts and completing necessary analysis. Will contribute to the development of the quarterly reporting (charts and summary).
- Contribute to the development of the quarterly reporting (charts and summary).
- Review document requests under the guidance of a team member to document appropriate authorities.
- Complete reviews of disclosures as assigned, support disclosure project (creating a master index).
- Complete the regulatory change management workflow for upcoming regulations.
- Responsible for clearing and decisioning alerts as assigned.
- Complete assigned enhanced due diligence workflows.
- Triage unusual activity reports for investigation, support investigation of activity.
- Enter business activity declarations into Verafin.
- Help to develop and review department training material.
- Support review of department procedures, create an index for tracking and review.
- Work assigned cases and present findings to compliance team members.
- Complete the regulatory change management workflow for upcoming regulations
- Gain exposure to upcoming regulatory changes and support tracking and review, disclosure reviews (account and marketing), Fair Lending analysis and reporting, document review (POA/Guardianship), project business case workflow and review, enhanced due diligence reviews, alert review and resolution, and OFAC.
- May support a complaint management project.
- May provide support to Governance initiatives.
- May support building QC, data dashboards or other data reporting.

Qualifications:
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior currently enrolled in an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in fields such as: business, finance, accounting, marketing, economics, information technology, or a related field (unrelated fields will be considered as well).
- Strong attention to detail, research and analytical abilities are required.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications, with strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

- Must have reliable transportation
Hourly rates range between $15 - 20 per hour depending on skill level and internship requirements.
