Job Summary
As an Estimator you will prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. Responsibilities are focused on cost estimates, material and labor requirements needed to complete a project proposal. You will provide completed project proposal to sales for their deliver to project owner. When project proposal is accepted, you will work closely with installation staff overseeing the project. This position will work closely with engineers, sales team, production staff and customers to collect data to estimate the cost and management of a project. The Estimator must be detail oriented and possess high attention to detail along with excellent numerical and communication skills and an analytical mindset. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial low voltage systems such as CCTV, network cabling, access control and asset tracking.
Primary Responsibilities:

- Read & thoroughly understand blueprints.
- Develops cost estimates from the take‐off stage to sales hand‐off.
- Manage estimating workflow to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines
- Create and maintain detailed material take-offs for all existing, new, and revised plans.
- Develop cost estimates for change orders.
- Analyzes material and labor requirements to complete a project.
- Meet with sales personnel, customers, vendors, and Project Managers.
- Visually inspects project locations to determine the labor and materials needed to do the work.
- Contacts vendors for pricing.
- Maintain the change order submissions/documents in an organized and standardized manner.
- Assist customers with technical information and pricing during pre-construction
- Define scopes of work for installation department and subcontract bid packages
- Complete plan take-off and enter bid information into the company’s preferred software program
- Review bids with sales and installation Managers
- Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings
- Participation in bid reviews and attending pre-bid meetings/job walks.
- Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors
- Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
- Maintain open line of communication with operations & project management to ensure understanding of and adherence to the estimate
Qualifications:
· 3-5 years of estimating & project management experience in the low voltage security industry
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
- Ability to build relationships with subcontractors and customers
- Experience with Estimating Software desired
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced work environment
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Low Voltage Systems.
- Excellent written, oral, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Estimate large and small projects.
- Work calmly under deadlines and external pressure.
- Excellent math skills.
- Strong communication skills.
