Security Benefit is searching for a VP, Financial, Planning, and Analysis (FP&A) with proven experience to join our team. This position will work in our home office in Topeka, Kansas, Overland Park, Kansas, or our Des Moines, Iowa office. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

What Does the Job Look Like?
The Vice President of FP&A will play a pivotal role in capital management, budgeting & forecasting, investor relations, and interactions with rating agencies. This executive will be responsible for ensuring the company's financial health and strategic growth by providing accurate financial insights and guidance to the executive team, board, investors, and external stakeholders.
Management Reporting & Performance Analytics
Oversee the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports to track financial and operational performance.
Design and maintain KPI dashboards that measure sales trends, persistency, investment performance, and profitability.
Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals vs. budget and forecast, providing actionable insights to executive leadership.
Partner with actuarial, accounting, and operations teams to ensure alignment of GAAP, statutory, and economic financial reporting.
Drive automation and process improvement in management reporting to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
Capital & Liquidity Management:
Lead capital planning and stress testing to optimize statutory, GAAP, and economic capital frameworks.
Partner with Treasury and Actuarial teams to manage capital allocation, liquidity, and solvency ratios.
Analyze and model potential capital actions, including reinsurance transactions, debt financing, and dividend strategies.
Rating Agency & Investor Relations:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with rating agencies (AM Best, S&P, Fitch, DBRS, etc.) and prepare financial materials for rating evaluations.
Lead the preparation of investor presentations, quarterly earnings materials, and board reports.
Support private equity sponsors with financial insights, modeling, and scenario analysis.
Financial Planning & Forecasting:
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to drive data-driven decision-making.
Develop and maintain multi-year financial projections, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
Analyze financial trends and variances to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and profitability improvement.
Strategic Initiatives & Business Insights:
Partner with the CFO and executive team on strategic planning, and business development.
Collaborate with Product, Actuarial, and Risk teams to assess financial impacts of new product launches and pricing strategies.
Drive scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to assess financial and risk exposures.
Who Are You?
10 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, capital management, or treasury roles within the insurance or financial services industry.
Experience in a private equity-backed environment preferred.
Deep understanding of statutory, GAAP, and economic capital concepts in an insurance setting.
Strong expertise in rating agency frameworks, capital modeling, and investor relations.
Proven ability to develop financial models and strategic analyses to support executive decision-making.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage with C-suite executives, investors, and external stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
