Position Overview :
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Life Insurance Actuarial Analyst to join our actuarial team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for recent college graduates with a strong academic background in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will receive hands-on training and support as you develop the skills necessary to evaluate and analyze life insurance products, pricing, reserves, and risk. You will work closely with experienced actuaries to contribute to financial modeling, risk assessments, and product development.
Key Responsibilities :
Pricing Support :
- Assist in the pricing of life insurance products by performing initial data analysis, including examining mortality, morbidity, and expense assumptions.
- Support the development of pricing models under the guidance of senior actuaries.
Reserving and Liability Analysis :
Help with the calculation of reserves for life insurance policies, ensuring that appropriate funds are set aside to cover future policyholder claims.Participate in the preparation of actuarial valuations and reports related to reserves and policyholder liabilities.Data Collection and Analysis :
Gather, clean, and analyze large sets of historical data to identify trends, understand customer behavior, and refine assumptions used in pricing and reserves.Prepare regular reports summarizing your findings.Modeling and Financial Projections :
Assist in building and maintaining actuarial models to project life insurance cash flows, premiums, claims, and other financial metrics.Support long-term financial projections and profitability analyses.Experience Analysis :
Work on projects that analyze actual experience (e.g., mortality, lapse rates) compared to the assumptions used in pricing.Help in preparing experience studies that update the assumptions for future pricing and reserving.Regulatory Reporting :
Assist with the preparation of actuarial reports and regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP, Solvency II) and internal policies.Cross-functional Collaboration :
Work alongside other departments (e.g., Underwriting, Finance, Sales) to gather data, interpret results, and communicate actuarial findings in a clear and understandable way.Actuarial Exam Support :
Participate in study programs for actuarial exams and apply learned concepts to real-world actuarial tasks.You will receive support from senior actuaries and study resources to help you progress through the actuarial exams.Qualifications : Education :
A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.Recent graduates or candidates nearing graduation are encouraged to apply.Actuarial Exam Progress :
While prior actuarial exams are not required, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing professional actuarial certifications (e.g., Associate of the Society of Actuaries - ASA).Experience with passing exams is a plus but not a requirement.Skills :
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large sets of data.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SQL, C#, VB.Net) or actuarial software is a plus but not required.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.Personal Attributes :
