What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Baker position at Seedo's Levantine Bakery?
Seedo’s Levantine Bakery is looking for a Head Baker / Pastry Chef to take the lead on production and development of pastries, breads, and sweets. The general schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 6am-2pm.
Seedo’s is a new, exciting bakery in downtown Chicago, specializing in Middle Eastern-inspired baked goods. We make fresh bread, flatbreads, croissants, cookies, and cakes, and we plan to expand our menu as we grow.
The Head Baker / Pastry Chef position is perfect for a self-driven, creative pastry professional who enjoys working independently, creating new recipes, developing systems, and keeping organized. This person will work in tandem with the owner to keep track of inventory, place orders, and test and implement new recipes.
For now, the Head Baker will handle the morning bake and most of the baked goods production. As the business continues to grow, we will hire a team of bakers. The Head Baker will then be in charge of training and managing the team of bakers.
Experience with Middle Eastern pastries and/or food is a plus, but not a requirement.
Qualified applicants will have at least five years professional pastry experience, with at least one year of managerial experience desired.
This is an hourly position to start, but could move towards a salaried position for the right candidate. Health insurance stipends are available.
Salary : $28 - $32
