Job Title: Purchasing Agent
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team. The purchasing agent role ensures smooth operations in seed purchasing, delivery scheduling, and product availability, while collaborating closely with product managers, sales teams, and warehouse staff.
Essential Job Functions:
- Seed & Product Procurement:
Purchase seeds and other products, managing purchase orders and drop shipments as per instructions from the product manager. - Inventory & Demand Management:
Prepare and provide regular purchasing and inventory reports to assist product managers in forecasting and determining product demand. - Delivery & Logistics Coordination:
Schedule deliveries and coordinate inbound transportation for product shipments, ensuring on-time arrivals. - Order & Invoice Accuracy:
Monitor daily receiving reports, flagging any discrepancies for the product managers. Review contracts and open purchase orders for accuracy, and check POs against confirmations and invoices. - Vendor Issue Resolution:
Act as the primary point of contact for resolving any product or Accounts Payable (A/P) conflicts with vendors. - Cross-Department Communication:
Facilitate communication between customer service, sales teams, product managers, and warehouse staff regarding product availability, seed shortages, product performance, and other relevant information. - Order Flow Management:
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the smooth flow of orders, from purchase to delivery, with timely resolution of any issues. - Seed Delivery Management:
Oversee the receipt of seed delivery packages from shippers into the warehouse, ensuring accurate processing.
Other Job Functions:
- Clerical Support:
Perform general clerical duties including photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience:
Typically requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience with 1-3 years of clerical-related work experience. Knowledge of professional communication, typing proficiency, and Microsoft Office is required. - System Knowledge:
Experience with J.D. Edwards or similar systems is preferred. - License & Record:
Must maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. - Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
