POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Toolmaker is responsible for machine set-up, operation, and maintaining workflow. By embodying the core values of our company, the Production Toolmaker will apply considerable production operations knowledge to perform a broad range of tasks on the production floor.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other machinery components based on engineering drawings and specifications.
• Operate and set up machine shop equipment such as CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, drills, and saws.
• Inspect and measure completed tools and parts using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to ensure accuracy.
• Modify or repair existing tools and equipment to meet production specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve tool designs and processes.
• Maintain an organized work area and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
• Work with engineers to resolve design or operational issues and ensure the proper use of tools and machinery.
• Adhere to safety standards and maintain a safe working environment. Monitor and maintain tooling inventory and order materials when necessary.
• Ensure all tools and components are manufactured to high quality standards and meet production timelines.
• Communicates and works effectively with the other team members. • Coordinate with the supporting departments on the completion of Marine orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven experience as a Toolmaker or in a similar role within a machine shop environment.
• Proficient in operating CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other relevant machinery.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Excellent understanding of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand and bend for up to ten hours. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. The majority of the work is on the manufacturing floor
