POSITION SUMMARY
The Optician is responsible for demonstrating excellent customer service by assisting patients and the optical manager/ optician in the optical center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
• Advises and assists patients in selection of frames and lens, including the selection of color, shape and size.
• Takes measurements to determine size, shape and specifications of lenses and frames for each patient.
• Verifies prescription using specialized equipment.
• Works up optical order for eyewear and processes the eyewear order via the fax/phone.
• Calls patients to pick up eyewear/replacement contact lenses.
• Dispenses eyewear/replacement contact lenses to patients.
• Orders and stocks supplies as needed, according to Green Optical guidelines and as approved by the optical manager.
• Instructs and assists patients on care of glasses and other equipment use.
• Responds to patient inquiries regarding questions.
• Serves as liaison to vendors and physicians, as requested by optical manager.
• Receives payments from patients and enters into NextGen System.
• Maintains optical inventory database as directed by the optical manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Highschool diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 1 year previous optical experience preferred.
