Purpose of Position : To clean parts and components for Segers Aero Corporation customer aircraft and engine, engine accessories and propellers. This position may work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required tasks. The position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations, and as such, the position is subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT FAA regulations.
Essential Functions : (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).
- Cleans aviation parts with PRF680(mineral spirit), glass and plastic bead
- Prepares for painting by cleaning, stripping, sanding, or chemically treating if needed
- Preps accessory parts (clean, tape, aluminum prep, alodine) for paint
- Cleans prep area before, after, and during operations
- Maintains a clean workstation free from Foreign Object and or Debris (FOD), ensures tooling is properly stored
- Maintains a clean / safe workspace free from spills or obstructions which may lead to harm
- Properly disposes of excess materials throughout the operation
- Works in accordance with applicable FAR’s, bulletins, maintenance manuals and acceptable practices
- Must be able to performs duties with little or no supervision
- Works to production schedule as directed by manager / lead
- Must read routing tags / sheets / traveler and follow directives
- Travels as required
- Confers with manager / lead to recommend changes such as : equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of the department and promote improvement
- Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
- Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
- Works overtime as needed
- Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities : (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)
Experience and Education Requirements :
Must be at least 18 years or older and a High School Diploma or GED is required. One year of mechanical-based work experience in the aviation, industrial, mechanical, construction, or maintenance industry is required. Experience cleaning mechanical parts and or components is preferred. Must pass a criminal background check and DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations.
Work Conditions :
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
