Job Description

• The Manufacturing Engineering Body-in-White (BIW) Specialist will lead the development and implementation of BIW Automatic process equipment, tools and related facilities for new model assembly production in one or more assembly plants.
• The Specialist drives continuous improvement into the processes and equipment while meeting the cost and timing requirements of the program.
• Employee evaluation and coaching are key aspects of this position.
• The successful Specialist demonstrates the ability to form clear, achievable goals for their direct reports, and to establish and maintain a system supporting those individuals in the achievement of their goals.
• The Specialist may have direct reports who are manufacturing process engineers who lead the development of the BIW assembly process creation and tooling for new vehicle launches.
• Interface with multiple organizations (Product Engineering, Vehicle Assembly, Quality, etc.) to understand components / subsystems for vehicles; use information obtained to generate process sheets, assembly layouts, installation tooling as well as special manufacturing requirements.
• Lead Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities with the platform team for new / critical processes.
