Commercial New Business Representative Role
The Commercial New Business Representative is a crucial position that collaborates with sales agents, internal account executives, and agency clients to deliver competitive and comprehensive insurance solutions for new business. This role also involves conducting thorough reviews of existing policies when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Building application packets for the sales team to ensure seamless delivery of insurance solutions.
- Reviewing best coverages for accounts with the sales team to provide optimal results.
- Marketing accounts to insurance carriers efficiently to meet business and sales team needs, streamlining the process and increasing productivity.
- Responding promptly and accurately to underwriting questions, maintaining excellent communication with all stakeholders.
- Negotiating with carriers on behalf of the agency and clients to secure the best possible deals.
- Meeting turnaround time expectations as determined by sales agents and internal guidelines, ensuring timely delivery of services.
- Recording and retrieving data using the agency management system for efficient record-keeping.
- Sending accounts for signature and binding remotely, facilitating convenient and paperless transactions.
- Providing timely invoicing, billing, and payment receipt information to accounting to avoid lapses in coverage or late penalties, promoting a smooth financial workflow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, or a related field.
- Holding a 440 Insurance License and/or a 220 Insurance License.
- A minimum of 2 years of industry experience in commercial underwriting, commercial account management, or commercial insurance marketing.
- Experience working in a commercial department at an independent agency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and AMS 360.
- Understanding of Commercial Insurance Rating Factors, Carrier Guidelines, and Appetites.
- Excellent communication skills, both in person, by phone, and by email, with the ability to effectively interact with team members and insureds.
- Business Development expertise.
