Our client, a top Life & Annuity Insurance firm, is looking to add a Director, Investment Accounting to their team. This position will oversee the accounting and financial reporting for the company's investment portfolio, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory standards. This role involves leading a team of investment accounting professionals, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Investment Accounting Function: Oversee and direct GAAP and statutory accounting and reporting for all asset classes in the company's consolidated investment portfolio.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of balances relating to investment assets, liabilities, income, and expenses.
- Collaboration: Work closely with investment operations, financial reporting, tax, treasury, and business unit leaders to support their specific needs.
- External Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with auditors, investment managers, service providers, and other business partners.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for automation, adopt new technologies and processes, and enhance controls over investment accounting.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor emerging financial reporting and regulatory developments related to investment accounting, ensuring timely compliance.
- Team Management: Oversee all aspects of Investment Accounting team management, including recruitment, development, performance evaluations, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, or auditing, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA).
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop accounting professionals.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
