Responsibilities
The Infection Control Practitioner will have responsibility for assisting with the program of Infection Control as well as the prevention and surveillance approved by the Infection Control Committee. This person will conduct on-going surveillance using NHSN definitions through review of diagnostics, microbiology results, physician orders, patient medical records and clinical staff discussion. This person will assist the DQM with investigations of clusters/outbreaks of hospital infections in consultation with Organization Improvement Committee (OIC), Regional CNO/DQM, and county/state health officials. The Infection Control Practitioner will recommend appropriate precautions are in place to reduce infection risks and will ensure required reporting is completed. He or she will participate in quality improvement activities by assessing and measuring HAI rates and evaluating outcomes on a continuous basis. Other responsibilities include serving as a resource to the DQM on all issues related to infection control and employee health and assisting in all licensing/accreditation survey preparedness and surveys.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Micro Biology or related field, 1 year of related experience, CIC Certification required.
