Job Title: Senior Contested Foreclosure Case Manager (On-site) Department: Legal Reports To: VP, Senior Managing Litigation Counsel FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary: The Senior Contested Foreclosure Case Manager will work hands-on with the VP, Senior Managing Litigation Counsel, Legal Department staff, outside foreclosure counsel, internal loan servicing departments and Selene’s investors to effectively and efficiently manage and resolve contested foreclosure cases. This person must be proactive and have the ability to work independently. This position requires the applicant to work in either Selene’s Dallas or Jacksonville office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for the management of all assigned contested foreclosure cases. Emphasis on proactive monitoring, risk identification and escalation. Review LPS queues for new matters and determine the appropriate department for handling. Handle initial case intake and set up. Assess new contested foreclosure matters and determine risk and resolution strategies, including settlement options. Prepare written summary of case and discuss with foreclosure counsel and outside investors. Anticipate and plan for all phases of contested foreclosure litigation. Responsible for managing cases to conclusion whether through judgment, trial, settlement or loss mitigation options. Respond to discovery requests and motions. Manage the relationship with outside foreclosure counsel, including procuring regular updates and ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and cost-effectively. Review and approve outside counsel budgets and invoices. Update and maintain the Thompson Reuters Legal Tracker litigation database and report on the status of the contested foreclosure, strategy and upcoming critical events and dates to management and investors. Track and follow-up on hearings, depositions, motions, pleadings, etc. Assist on special projects assigned by management and assume responsibility for successfully achieving objectives. Assist VP with training new and existing contested foreclosure staff. Ability to generate reports and knowledge of Microsoft Excel useful. Provide additional coverage of contested foreclosure matters and special tasks when individual team members are out of the office. Handle inquiries by responding to emails within 24 hours. Escalates issues to management when necessary to ensure quality service. Provide recommendations for procedural changes and improvements as they pertain to the department. Research and/or analyze requests in accordance with established guidelines and determine the appropriate course of action. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university; or an Associate’s degree (A.A.) from an accredited college plus a paralegal certification, and at least ten years related experience as a paralegal or contested foreclosure case manager in mortgage servicing. Must have experience in the legal department of a mortgage servicer. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Computer Skills: Legal Tracker or a similar litigation case management database, MSP, Black Knight/LPS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher), Internet Explorer.
