HR Business Partner
The HR Business Partner uses professional methodologies and best practices to provide direct support to employees and managers in handling employee relations matters that may include coaching, educating, and guiding employees and managers through informal and formal processes involving performance management, progressive discipline, dispute resolution, grievance processing, effective communication, and workplace interventions. This is a full-time position that reports to the Human Resources Director.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Respond to employee complaints and requests for support in a timely manner

Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to members of management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

Ensure high-quality, consistent, and legally compliant HR support by resolving inquiries or directing the appropriate HR team member. This requires regular travel to various SEI locations with consistent office hours at these sites.

Assists management with performance concerns, disciplinary action and conflict management issues and consults on possible actions to be taken.

Examines the source of problems between employees and/or employees and management.

Responds to employee complaints and conduct formal investigations including reviewing documentation, developing interview questions, interviewing employees, and preparing any follow-up memos, summaries or letters documenting the investigation.

Work collaboratively with Staff Development Manager and external partners to develop curriculum and policies on various HR topics such as performance management, progressive discipline, anti-harassment, grievance process, dispute resolution, effective communication, effective interviewing and hiring, job classifications and timekeeping and other HR related topics, including appropriate outside trainers on an annual basis.

Attends and helps facilitate disciplinary and separation meetings.

Prepares communications and documentation on performance and disciplinary actions as necessary, maintain appropriate records and treat all situations with the necessary professional skill and confidentiality.

Draft separation agreements and coaches and/or supports management on delivering agreements.

Conducts exit interviews.

Manage extensive phone, email, and case management communications with employees.

Manage the annual performance review process, including tracking reviews, preparing letters and work with Finance to finalize compensation changes.

Manage the salary ranges for all positions at SEI and make salary recommendations to managers in the hiring process.

Review and manage job classification for all job descriptions.

All other HR job duties as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or seven (7) years of human resources experience and SHRM-CP or CPHR certification

Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources generalist experience; examples include performance management, discipline, investigations, process improvement, ADA, recruitment, and employee relations.

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational development, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

Advanced knowledge of employment and labor laws required.

Demonstrated skills in implementing organizational training and development programs.

Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels and cultures of people.

Ability to maintain objectivity and composure in difficult situations.

Ability to assist and act in a confidential manner

Must have excellent writing skills to include punctuation and grammar.

Must have excellent presentation skills to include individual, small and large group formats.

Ability to work independently.

Must be able to work under pressure.

Ability to remain solution-focused and respective in all interactions with staff.

Advanced computer experience, including M365.

Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize data, trends and statistics.
