Human resources generalist
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing and supporting a broad range of HR functions such as recruitment and selection, staff retention and other activities that align with SEI’s organizational and staffing needs. This position oversees benefits administration of SEI’s Health, Life and ADD insurance programs, and Retirement Plan to include change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees; COBRA, FMLA/OFLA, workers’ compensation tracking. This is a full-time position that reports to the Human Resources Director.
PRIMARY Job responsibilities
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide benefit vendors with accurate eligibility and enrollment information.
- Processes monthly invoices for health insurance, dental, insurance, ADD insurance, COBRA and resolve any discrepancies with the insurance carriers.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Resolves employee concerns related to health plans functioning as liaison with various insurance carriers.
- Enters all 401(k) loan information and respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
- Assists the Finance team with the annual 401(k) audit.
- Communicates proactively and works with department management to resolve employee concerns and issues and identify administrative needs that occur on a routine basis.
- Manages the recruitment and selection processes to include writing job announcements, posting employment opportunities to internal and external websites, application screening, pre-employment testing and new hire orientation.
- Oversees employment verifications and employment department inquiries.
- Evaluates and recommends improvements to HR policies and procedures continually to meet the needs of the HR department and ensure compliance.
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and OFLA/FMLA.
- Effectively interprets OFLA/FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
- Manages Workers Compensation claims process.
- Coaches and advises employees regarding HR programs, policies and procedures.
- Works with Directors and Managers to develop, manage and finalize agency job descriptions.
- Develops and maintains overall HR project calendar and ensure the key stakeholders are made aware of project and deadlines.
- Assists in the planning, implementation and communication of special projects and programs such as wellness, benefits, recruiting, performance management and employee surveys.
- Maintains employee related databases; prepare and analyze reports needed to carry out the functions of the HR department and organization.
- Acts as a point of contact for HR related inquiries and personnel issues while becoming familiar with all departments and job roles within SEI.
- Assists in the open enrollment process, ensuring that HRIS is set up appropriately, employees can access system and resolve any employee questions.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
- Prepares internal and external compliance reporting such as AA/EEO and Vets-100/100A data management.
- Maintains responsibility for all ACA compliance.
- Codes all human resources employment related invoices.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Develops letters, memos and other correspondence in a professional manner.
- Other functions and special projects as assigned by SEI Management.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resource Management or a related field and three to five years’ human resource experience, or a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and two years’ experience in the Human Resources field or any similar combination of education and experience.
- Must have a professional work style and uses a service-oriented approach to human resources.
- Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
- Ability to manage work load independently with ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
- Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels and cultures of people.
- Must have excellent business writing and report writing skills and the ability to analyze, interpret and summarize data and information.
- Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office software and people tracking software.
- Must have current and valid state driver’s license, in good standing with no insurability restrictions and must be insurable under SEI’s auto insurance policy.
Salary : $63,000 - $71,000
