We are seeking an Estimator to join our team. This role will play a critical part in the preconstruction process, supporting budgeting, quantity takeoffs, bid solicitations, and subcontractor coordination for commercial and industrial construction projects.
The Estimator will work closely with the Grading and Utility and Plumbing Manager and project teams, assisting with cost estimation, bid evaluations, and overall project planning. This position is ideal for a professional with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for construction who is looking to develop their skills and grow within a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
Preconstruction and Estimating:
- Assist in the preparation of quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates for various project phases.
- Review and analyze bid documents to assess compliance with company standards, client expectations, and budgetary constraints.
- Support the development of conceptual budgets and pricing strategies for new projects.
- Perform cost comparisons and assist in value engineering exercises to optimize project budgets.
Bid Management and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Identify and prequalify subcontractors and suppliers for bid invitations.
- Solicit and track subcontractor bids, ensuring timely responses and competitive pricing.
- Review and compare subcontractor proposals, preparing bid tabulations and analysis for management review.
- Maintain subcontractor databases, historical cost data, and pricing benchmarks for reference in future projects.
Project Support and Collaboration:
- Work closely with Preconstruction, Operations, and Development teams to align project goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Assist in preparing bid presentations, proposals, and preconstruction documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure smooth project handoff and continuity from preconstruction to execution.
- Continuously research and analyze market trends, material costs, and industry best practices to enhance estimating accuracy.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in cost estimation and bid evaluations.

- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, including visits to active construction sites.
- Technical proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and job specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), estimating software, and project management tools is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in estimating, project engineering, or related roles within a commercial general contracting or construction environment.
- Experience with bid management, subcontractor coordination, and cost analysis preferred.
