Position Title: Assistant Principal
Department or Unit: School Assignment
Reports To: Principal
Supervises: Various professional and paraprofessional personnel
Job Summary: Assists in supervising the management of the school and its programs, food services, physical plant, and instructors.
Typical Duties:
- Assists in determining yearly goes and methods to accomplish those goals.
- Acts as principal in the principal's absence.
- Assists in evaluation of school personnel.
- Attends meetings and consults eight faculty, parents, principals and the curriculum council.
- Counsels and discipline students as requested.
- Displays personal conduct which sets an example for students to emulate.
- Assists in the preparation of student records and progress reports.
- Assists in the distribution and accounting of textbooks and instructional supplies.
- Assists in preparation of student schedules and/or schedules of instruction and supervision for teachers.
- Assists in the supervision of classroom instruction.
- Assists in coordinating student extra-curricular activities and school public relations.
- Assists in monitoring school plan for problems related to health and safety of students and staff.
- Aids in interpreting school programs to parents and community.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Education
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in teaching.
- Relevant state certification
- Expertise in area of specialization
