What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Surveyor position at SEMA Construction?
SEMA Construction, Inc., has an immediate opening for an experienced Chief Surveyor with a background in heavy civil construction. The position will be responsible for assisting with projects located in the Pueblo, CO area.
Job Description: Position available for an experienced Chief Surveyor with 7 years proven work record. This position requires the Surveyor to work with Project Managers (and Project Surveyors to complete Survey and deliverables: survey control networks, boundary surveys, ROW surveys, ALTA surveys and topographic and engineering design surveys.)
The candidate should understand basic to advanced survey concepts and philosophies and be highly experienced in various software programs. The ability and desire to manage and lead the CAD standards and processes program within SEMA is a plus.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ability to work outdoors in a hands-on construction environment
- Conduct physical site survey using a variety of company provided tools and equipment including stakes, measuring devices, hand tools, ladders, personal protective equipment,
- Assist Survey Manager with verifying the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
- Assist Survey Manager to verifying office calculations to field
- Ability to read and identify plans quickly and accurately
- Quick to respond to construction issues and able to solve problems with viable solutions in concert with the entire construction team
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Work well with other project team members in the field and office
- Party Chief experience
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Willing to travel at times to other projects
- Work within a team environment and be a technical lead in all aspects of survey related software
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D survey and Client CAD experience
- Trimble Business Center - Ability to upload/download and process survey data, Terrestrial LiDAR a plus.
- Microsoft software (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to process survey data into planimetrics and DTM
- Proficient with MicroStation and OpenRoads, familiar with Civil 3D a plus.
- Familiar with building CAD standards and boundary surveying
- Certified Survey Technician (CST) or SIT certification preferred, but not required
- CDOT experience preferred
