What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at Semcac?
Summary
Responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required because of the ever changing medical environment.
Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies.
Identifies and resolves patient billing issues.
Re-bills insurance companies or other 3rd parties to secure payment for patients.
Maintains patient billing files and bills for overdue payments as outlined in the Clinic Collections Manual.
Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Communicates with other resources to stay current on CPT, ICD-10, and NDC codes.
Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical coding certification or experience in medical coding preferred.
