We are currently seeking a Systems/Network Engineer to join our Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)'s Voice Switch & Recorder (VS&R) team at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center.
Requirements
This role requires a self-starter who can identify and complete necessary tasks, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to new processes. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with a diverse team.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Test-focused Systems/Network engineer, that will allow for flexibility between test/tech/security team.
- Some software development experience (e.g., automation tools such as Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, etc.)
- Linux experience (comfortable on the terminal, writing bash scripts, configuring packages, etc.)
- Strong logic/reasoning skills (e.g., can understand/analyze system requirements, and identify logical contradictions/gaps)
- Experience with FAA stakeholder processes (e.g., Test & Evaluation process, Security Authorization process)
- Willingness to learn more about FAA stakeholder processes and practice them
- Good communication skills, oral, and writing
- Some hands-on system security experience (e.g., hardening, SAST/DAST, penetration testing, etc.)
- Experience designing and generating requirements-driven tests
Additional Desired Skills/Experience:
- Environmental test experience (e.g. temperature, shock, vibration, drop, etc.)
- Experience with design and accreditation of test tools
- Familiarity with test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, breakout boards, voltage/current measurement devices, network analyzers, network impairment devices, etc.)
- Experience conducting and participating in technical interchange meetings.
- Network design experience.
- VoIP experience (SIP/SDP/RTP), specifically ED-137 VoIP (for ATC communication)
- Protocol design experience (constructing custom protocols or software implementation of existing protocols)
A bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 6-8 years of relative experience is required.
