The Online Course Accessibility Assistant collaborates with the development of accessible eLearning courses. Assists in the development of online course materials that meet accessibility guidelines and universal design standards. Serves as the primary contact for faculty and staff for online course accessibility.

$21.66 hourly up to 26 hours per week.
Conditions of Employment
Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.

DESCRIPTION:
The Online Course Accessibility Assistant collaborates with the development of accessible eLearning courses. Essential Functions
- Collaborates with faculty and staff in converting existing course materials or creating new materials for use in online courses that meet federal and other accessibility rules, laws, and guidelines.
- Serves as the primary contact for faculty and staff for online course accessibility.
- Assists with captioning and transcription of videos and audio files used in online courses.
- Sends files to vendors for professional captioning and transcription services and tracks funding.
- Reviews course content for accessibility and Universal Design requirements.
- Troubleshoots and supports eLearning managed accessibility applications for faculty and staff.
- Maintains eLearning library of resources for faculty relating to accessibility for online courses and course content.
- Supports eLearning staff in the day-to-day operations of eLearning.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Associate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- One year experience with one or more of appropriate software, such as: learning management system (e.g. Canvas, D2L), HTML/XHTML, web authoring tools, graphics software, and presentation software.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.
- Experience working with online courses or course development.
- Experience working with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, assistive technology, Section 508 guidelines, Voluntary Product Accessibility Template and Universal Design principles.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both as a team member and independently, with attention to detail, focus, and accuracy.
- Excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) as well as desk top publishing or graphics software and the ability to learn new technologies.
- Ability to show initiative and maturity of judgment.
- Knowledge of copyright and accessibility laws as it applies to online course materials in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- Knowledge of assistive technology.
- Knowledge of Universal Design principles.
- Experience using Section 508 Guidelines and Voluntary Product Accessibility Template.
- Ability to maintain discretionary judgment in dealing with confidential matters.
