DESCRIPTION:
The Manager, of the Geneva Training Center schedules and monitors training sessions, supervises part-time staff, and performs general maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Schedules use of the Geneva Training Center by authorized individuals and agencies, including basic law enforcement, basic corrections, advanced/specialized training, law enforcement agencies, and other community members.

2. Monitors usage of driving track and firing range including ensuring that those using the driving track and firing range submit designated range use forms.

3. Supervises part-time range employees.

4. Inspects the driving track and gun range to ensure they are clear of all debris and equipment is functioning properly.

5. Conduct general repairs to the track and range or contacts maintenance for assistance.

6. Performs general maintenance of the grounds, building, and facilities.

7. Maintains college driving track vehicles by completing minor maintenance and repairs. Coordinates with commercial repair facility for maintenance and/or repairs to criminal justice vehicles.

8. Inventories, orders, and maintains supplies for all equipment relating to vehicle operations and firing range operations.

10. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

2. One year of experience in general maintenance, landscaping, and basic repair skills.

3. Valid Florida driver’s license or a valid driver’s license from another state with the ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One year of supervisory or related experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &ABILITIES:

1. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

2. Ability to maintain rapport with staff at all levels and with law enforcement officials.

3. Knowledge of and ability to use standard tools and equipment for maintaining driving track, vehicles, and grounds.

4. Knowledge of and ability to perform general landscaping and lawn maintenance.

5. Knowledge of and ability to perform general facility repair and ground maintenance practices.

5. Ability to supervise part-time staff.

6/. Ability to work collaboratively with others.

7. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment.

8. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

1. Works outside in various weather conditions.

2. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, bend, and operate grounds equipment.

3. Some travel is required for workshops, training, and/or meetings.

Conditions of Employment:

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.
