AGM
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in successfully running SEMM, assisting the day-to-day operations, maintaining SEMM policies, procedures and service standards.
- Responsible for supporting the financial performance of SEMM by driving sales and controlling costs and inventory.
- Assist payroll-related information as needed, reviewing and confirming time cards and tips.
- Support employees in daily responsibilities, providing training direction
- Be the role model for hospitality, being able to work any foh position with grace and professionalism.
- Work with the kitchen bar/cafe team to oversee stock and inventory.
- Share SEMM vision and embody the cultural values of SEMM as a role model.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of SEMM’s food beverage program and be able to speak of company history, programs, and future.
- Support the GM on project planning staffing
- Understand all sanitation and safety guidelines, mentoring team members on compliance.
- Delegate tasks to staff members.
- Maintain Opening/Closing procedures as documented for each role/job while updating changes/improvements.
- Maintain and develop professional friendships with regulars and new guests
- Be diligent in cash management for beginning end of day
- Be a graceful leader in balancing needs of BOH/FOH company.
- Support onboarding training
- Encourage team members to understand SEMM’s service hospitality standards.
- Review & interview potential new hires with GM.
- Reviews performance check in's for staff, guiding the team to find strategies for improvement.
Qualifications
- 2 years as lead/management position in restaurant/cafe/bar setting
- NYC Food Handlers Certificate.
- Flexible schedule, be able to work weekends, holidays, early morning/nights.
- Maintain professionalism under pressure in high paced and dynamic environments.
- Polished professionalism and hygenic presentation meeting grooming standards.
- Ability to learn/use hospitality software such as point of sale, reservation systems, apps, google drives and more.
- Speak, read, write, and understand English. (Fluency in Korean is a plus)
- Communicate effectively to staff, general managers, ownership in both verbal & written.
- Strong phone etiquette, tone of voice, listening and understanding clients needs, communicating your thoughts clearly, and recording all pertinent info collected from conversations.
- Knowledge of menu, event beverage list and communicate recommendations to guests.
- Develop thorough understanding of reservation policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of meeting room technology such as lighting and A/V systems a plus.
