The Clinical Research Internship is for current medical students, residents, or fellows who have an interest in developing clinical research skills by assisting with Investigator-initiated studies. Specific responsibilities may include data collection and analysis, physician communication, and industry partner coordination. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Research Design & Planning:
- Assist in the development of research objectives, hypotheses, and methodologies
- Plan and organize research activities and timelines
Data Collection & Analysis:
- Collect data through various methods such as surveys, interviews, observations, or experiments and ensure data quality and accuracy
- Analyze collected data using statistical software or other analytical tools to then interpret and summarize the results
Report & Manuscript Writing:
- Prepare research reports, summaries, and manuscripts for publication
- Write clear and concise documents that communicate research findings effectively
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with research team members, including professors, scientists, and other research assistants
- Participate in team meetings and providing updates on research progress
Ethical Considerations:
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and regulations in research, such as obtaining necessary approvals from ethics committees
- Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of research participants
Presentation of Findings:
- Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders; this may include delivering presentations at conferences, seminars, or department meetings
Project Management:
- Manage and organize research materials data and documentation
- Keep track of project deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks
Conduct Literature Review:
- Review relevant literature and research studies to understand the existing knowledge and gaps in the field
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Science or related field
- Post-graduate student applying to or currently enrolled in medical school
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Internet software, electronic medical records and practice management software
- Proficient in data analysis using statistical software or other analytical tools and the ability to interpret and present findings in a clear and meaningful manner
- Effective commination, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations
- Ability to manage various responsibilities with multiple deadlines and competing demands, with excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Knowledge and understanding of ethical principles and regulations in research with the ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and ensure the protection of research participants’ rights
- Accepts challenging opportunities and responsibilities and has the desire to seek new learning experiences as well as address unexpected issues and propose solutions
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively work with diverse team members and contribute to a positive and productive research environment
- High level of confidentiality and discretion
