What are the responsibilities and job description for the Natural Gas Scheduler II position at SEMPRA?
Primary Purpose
Perform and coordinate natural gas pipeline scheduling activities, assist in optimizing existing transportation and storage contracts and coordinate with back-office to ensure correct invoicing of physical gas activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage nominations, confirmations, imbalances, and other related activities on various natural gas pipelines and storage facilities.
- Have a thorough understanding of transportation contracts and nominate appropriately based upon contract entitlements, receipt and delivery points, and capacity avoiding any overrun or other unforeseen incremental transportation charges. Regularly apply problem solving skills to more efficiently and effectively move supply on pipelines.
- Track and interpret pipeline curtailments and operational issues using pipeline electronic bulletin boards (EBBs) or communicating with pipeline transportation representatives. Relay issues or concerns and advise the Trading team on potential impacts and alternative solutions.
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with the Operations team and customers regarding physical positions. Provide consultation on more effective or valuable supply paths.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of pipeline tariffs and rate cases as required for our client base, asset management and accounting.
- Ensure positions are appropriately reflected and balanced in system. Assist back-office with invoice reconciliation.
- Be a key team member in helping develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, pipelines, storage operators and suppliers.
- Assist in training new natural gas scheduling staff.
- Be available for after hours and weekend scheduling requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
