Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Retail Operations will be responsible for modeling and promoting Sendik’s culture by supporting those who consistently provide “best in class” service to our guests. The Assistant Director of Retail Operations will be in charge of Sendik's day-to-day operations and will carry out company policies and guidelines focusing on the Sendik's Better Business Culture. This person is in charge of the operational practices of assigned stores making sure each runs smoothly, cleanly and meets any budget and sales goals and is complying with any marketing campaigns and promotions to ensure execution of the Basics to Increase Sales as well as building productive customer and associate relations.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve customers, associates, vendors and partners while modeling Sendik’s culture and providing “best in class” customer service
- Provide coaching to and build strong partnerships with store teams to ensure optimal department service and operations.
- In support of efforts to promote from within, identify associates with potential to contribute at a higher level, coach and mentor these associates toward positions with increased responsibility.
- Work with departments to ensure safety and sanitation standards are consistently met. Demonstrate a commitment to safety and sanitation by serving as an example and providing direction.
- Execute “go to market” strategies by creating and implementing strategic and functional merchandising plans which showcase products to meet customer needs and preferences and maximize profit dollars.
- Ensure plans are executed consistently with established expectations.
- Adopting a continuous improvement mindset, proactively seek ways to improve upon existing department procedures and processes.
- Develop, modify and roll out changes in a manner which ensures understanding and consistent application.
- Evaluate financial performance of departments and collaborate with Department Managers to control costs and maximize profitability.
- Ensure product quality and consistency.
- Participate in Developmental Center initiatives designed to improve product quality and consistency, service, efficiency and innovation.
- Partner with procurement to drive sales and profitability.
- Guiding, directing and motivating team members – providing guidance and direction by developing a constructive and cooperative working relationship with team members and maintaining their overtime
- Oversee, manage and train associates; including, but not limited to coaching, performance improvement, recognition, 1:1 meetings and feedback
- Organizing, planning and prioritization – developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Perform workload assignment and schedule management for assigned projects.
- Identify skill gaps and develop paths geared for success for team members.
- Ensure that Sendik’s Core Expectations for All Associates are administered and enforced across all store locations.
- Assist in the stores during peak holiday seasons as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years retail experience
- Strong knowledge of local and state health, sanitation and safety regulations and codes
- A strong customer service orientation focused on providing the best in quality and service
- Business development and strategy implementation knowledge
- Strong leadership and decision making skills
- Ability to sell, manage and drive growth
- Proficient in computer programs such as Word, Excel and Google Docs
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of security and ability to handle sensitive information
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
- Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
