Overview

Are you passionate about delivering therapy to help students overcome challenges and thrive in their learning environment? Seneca’s School Partnership Program is hiring for a Classroom Therapist to guide grades 3rd to 12th to success in Hayward, CA. As a Classroom Therapist you will provide healing-centered therapeutic and case-management services, including conducting mental health assessments and implementing individual behavioral plans. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with teachers, counselors, and school leadership to ensure the success of youth and families in a district school setting.

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

Seneca’s Unconditional Education Heart Program partners with Hayward Unified School District to support students and families through theri most difficult times. The HEART program currently has 7 counseling enriched classrooms on 7 Hayward School District campuses. Each classroom is staffed by a teacher, a Seneca therapist, and 1-3 Seneca Mental Health Counselors.  The Program offers individual, family and group therapies, alongside behavioral systems that emphasize positive reinforcement and incentives.  The HEART program promotes a strength-based system focused on relational, behavioral and ecological treatment. Responsibilities

  • Work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team with teachers, counselors, other specialists/educational staff, and program leadership
  • Provide interventions including therapy (individual, group, family) and case management for identified students based on school-based referrals, individualized clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Engage caregivers in the treatment process, providing frequent opportunities to discuss student growth and needs
  • Provide crisis intervention, including risk screening, assessment, triage, and service linkage
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training
    • This may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management of the clients, if applicable. Training in additional crisis intervention modalities may be required
  • Provide consultation to other school staff on safety assessments, mental health crises, accessing social service, and in utilizing healing centered techniques to experience success with all students
  • Contribute to a strong school culture by participating in or leading small group, classroom or school-wide activities for students that celebrate success and promote joy
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation for plan development and to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, or psychology
    • Registered or eligible to register with the California BBS
  • Valid CA Drivers License as travel required between school sites or to clients homes
  • Experience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is strongly preferred
  • TB test clearance, fingerprints, and COVID-19 vaccination
  • Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency a plus

Schedule

  • School based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4:30 PM
    • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

Benefits

  • Starting at $71,080 - $85,080 per year, with actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
    • $2000 sign-on bonus (for new Seneca employees in this position)
    • $4000 salary increase upon licensure
