Overview:
Our client, a multidisciplinary AECM firm with a vast east coast presence is looking to hire a Resident Engineer. This would be a full-time, W-2 position working for their firm based in the New Jersey area. This role will also require travel to worksites as needed.
Our client is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee and supervise construction on various highway and/or roadway projects across New Jersey. This role is responsible for ensuring that construction activities adhere strictly to project specifications and schedules, acting as a key liaison between contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders. The position includes team supervision, documentation, technical guidance, and progress reporting.
Salary Range: 115 - 125k
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise highway/roadway construction projects and ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Maintain detailed project records and prepare progress reports.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with contractors; manage and negotiate change orders.
- Monitor project progress against construction schedules and report delays to the Project Manager and client.
- Direct and oversee field construction inspection and office engineering staff.
- Provide technical advice on construction methods and design issues.
- Review and approve deviations from materials and construction procedures in coordination with Engineer-In-Charge.
- Approve contract submittals and payment applications.
- Participate in project close-out and contract completion activities.
- Lead regular construction meetings and communicate issues as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
- NICET Level IV Certification in Highway Construction
- OR 7 years – Road/Bridge Construction Inspection Experience
- 1 year – Experience as a Resident Engineer (RE) on a NJDOT Project
- 2 years – Experience using Site Manager construction management software
- ACI Certified – American Concrete Institute
- SAT Certified – NJDOT Site Awareness Training
- TCP Certified – Rutgers Traffic Control Coordinator Program
Salary : $112,000 - $125,000
