Position Summary

Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for assigned department program; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the social sciences or related field; and

Three (3) years of community services program experience; and

To include one (1) year supervisory or technical lead experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Operations, services and activities of an assigned community, social or human services program
  • Principles and practices of program development and administration
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration
  • Principles and practices of assigned community, social or human services programs
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations

Preferred Skills & Abilities

  • Oversee assigned community service programs
  • Supervise, organize, and review the work of lower level staff
  • Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
  • Provide job training programs to the community
  • Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
  • Prepare clear and concise reports
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public
