The Adult Day Program Nurse position is responsible for monitoring the health and well-being of senior participants in the Adult Day Service Program and for assisting the Adult Day Service Manager with the daily operations of the program. Older adults throughout four counties in Southwest Florida rely on the Senior Friendship Centers for help with nutrition, adult day services, social engagement, education, help in times of crisis, and so much more.

Essential Functions:
Operational
- Monitors the health of participants. Respond to questions, complaints, and symptoms; respond to illnesses and/or emergencies.
- Administers and records daily medications as prescribed by the participant's physician.
- Monitors vital signs and weights as required by regulations.
- Observes and documents changes in participant functioning level and confer with case manager and/or family regarding any issues.
- Initiates care plans and performs quarterly reviews on each participant as required by regulations.
- Maintains standards of Adult Care Food Program.
- Assists with the service of meals and snacks and maintains required documentation to ensure the documented nutritional needs of participants are met.
- Actively participates in group activities with clients.
- Ensures that participant special needs are met including, but not limited to, ambulation hydration, toileting, and personal hygiene, insure all staff are using safety protocol. Provide personal care assistance when needed.
- Provides ongoing training for staff on proper techniques for transfers, toileting, and physical assistance.
- Orders and maintain first aid supplies.
- Assists the ADS Program Manager in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of social, educational, and recreational programs that maximize skills and interests.
- Assists ADS Program Manager and acts in the ADS Program Manager’s absence to ensure completion of managerial duties.
- Attends appropriate trainings to remain current with changing service environment and best practices.
- Provides general supervision to program assistants and volunteers in the absence of the program manager.
- Willing and able to flex work hours to meet program staffing needs.
- Reports any incident of abuse or neglect as mandated by state guidelines.
- Must comply with HIPAA regulations and OSHA laws and safety guidelines.
Organizational
- Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.
- Participate in fundraising and outreach activities to promote the organization’s mission.
- Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
- Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization’s safety and incident policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides general supervision in the absence of the program manager

Travel:
- Occasional travel to other ADS program locations to assist with program duties and training.
- Travel within the several counties in which Senior Friendship Centers Inc. operates may be required as frequently as needed to support operations, fundraising, and outreach.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Requires a current Florida nursing license; the minimum requirement is LPN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with Dementia/Alzheimer’s clients preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must have experience using computer software applications for record management and the ability to quickly learn the organization’s systems.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
- Must be able to navigate various departments of a physical location.
- Must be able to assist potentially frail seniors in wheelchairs or using assistive devices.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening, tuberculous test, and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
