Job Description
Partner with controllers to oversee company accounting activities, including billing, payroll, bank reconciliations, and cash accounts. Support accounting managers in preparing monthly and annual financial reports. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Division Controller with month-end closing activities.
- Reconcile corporate bank statements and prepare journal entries.
- Calculate, compile, and submit monthly and quarterly sales tax.
- Support the Accounting Manager and team through daily communication.
- Process accounts payable and payroll imports regularly.
- Assist in completing energy reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with different stakeholders to develop analytical reports.
- Identify opportunities to streamline business processes.
- May travel locally and overnight throughout communities or business-related locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal, analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A general understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Comfortable with ambiguity; can extract relevant components from complex situations to connect the dots, make sound decisions, and work with minimal direction.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain consistent and regular attendance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Yardi, and other business-related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as a staff accountant, with two years of experience.
