Job Summary
The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and program management at a Level 1 facility. This role provides regulatory expertise, implements EHS initiatives, and monitors facility activities to ensure adherence to regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate will drive proactive improvements, foster a culture of safety, and support the site's EHS management processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for proactive safety and environmental improvements.
- Lead the implementation and sustainability of EHS compliance programs and management processes (ISO, OHSAS, VPP).
- Develop and deploy processes to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct and lead EHS investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for incidents, near misses, and regulatory concerns.
- Manage regulatory recordkeeping, reporting, and case management for the facility.
- Develop, track, and deliver EHS training for employees and stakeholders.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to EHS within the facility.
- Oversee compliance for air, water, and waste management, including DOT regulations.
- Ensure alignment with company-wide EHS policies and procedures.
- Serve as the Emergency Response Coordinator, assisting with emergency response coordination and contractor management. This position requires on-call availability 24/7.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related EHS discipline.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in industrial EHS activities.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, and other safety regulations.
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including non-traditional shifts.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
