ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Offer the highest caliber guidance to guests in private and group hikes, garden walks, ranch walks and forest bathing including preparation and breakdown
- Guide guests safely and be able to manage their physical limitations
- Evaluate environmental conditions and make the call if need to cancel hike if conditions are too severe
- Ability to create an alternative activity if weather conditions require
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
- Maintain the hike gear according to protocols.
- Remain proficient in computer operating software systems and reporting required by your position
- Maintain complete confidentiality in all guest/program matters in accordance with company policies
- Local knowledge of the cultural history and ability to story tell to share with guests
- Ability to address First Aid Needs
- Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company.
- Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
- Complete Course from The Center of Excellence on Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku)
- Deep Study of Field Guide from the Lāna'I Cultural Heritage Center
- Knowledge of local trails and educated in the local culture
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Connection to nature
- Knowledge of the local flora and fauna
Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to guide guests of all levels
- Ability to monitor and observe client performance indoors and outside (in daylight and lowlight evening conditions)
- Friendly demeanor, great smile, energetic, calm, and empathetic
- Able to make sound decisions when in a stressful situation
- Organized and able to prioritize
- Must be able to operate equipment, including: an iPad, computer, hand radio, and be able to text message.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, stretch, reach above shoulders, kneel, twist, and grip items.
- Responsible to set up equipment for class, Pull a trolley
- Must be able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, at least 12,000 steps a shift, up and down hill and stairs in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to push and pull equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds for 5km
- Performs additional related duties as requested by a manager at any time
- Must be able to have flexible hours and work weekends, and holidays.
- Relocation to the island of Lana'i, HI
- Candidates must have valid work authorization for the U.S.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Certification in Forest Bathing
- Background in Botany Horticulture
- CPR/AED Certification
