JOB DESCRIPTION: Direct Support Professional
- Job Type: Part Time with potential for Full-time
- Rate: $15.00-$18.00/ Hourly
- Work Location: In Person
- Schedule: Day Shift, Evening Shift, Overnight Shift, Weekend Availability
Job Summary: A Direct Support Professional provides support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The services are provided in the home and community settings and assist individuals in acquiring, maintaining and improving the skills necessary to reside and function independently within their community.
Services consist of support in the general areas of self-care, communication, fine and gross motor development, mobility, personal adjustment, relationship development, socialization, transportation, independent living and use of community resources. All services provided must support the outcomes listed within the individuals support plan.
Requirements:
- Employee must be at least 18 years of age.
- Employee must have and maintain a valid PA State Driver’s License.
- Employee must provide proof of valid vehicle insurance/registration/inspection.
- Employee must provide successful clearance of background checks.
- Employee must be able to successfully complete all trainings requirements in time allotted.
Physical Requirements:
- Employee must knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Employee must be able to read and write proficiently.
- Employee must be able to ambulate throughout locations.
- Employee must be physically capable of transferring, assisting with transfers and lifting up to 50lbs if necessary.
Two Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with disabilities with their daily living activities.
- Encourage community participation.
- Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and team members.
- Transport and accompany individuals to appointments, outings and activities.
- Report ANY unusual occurrences and/or health & safety issues to the Administrator in a timely manner.
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Implement approved emergency procedures in the event of a fire, earthquake, or other natural disasters.
- Perform any other duties related to the field of service as may be assigned by the Supervisor, Administrator, and/or other Entity involved with the individual’s care.
