What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Sentry?
We're seeking an experienced and self-motivated Payroll professional with experience in multi-state payroll setup and processing to join Sentry. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the Stevens Point office.
As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be a key contributor on the payroll team. You'll be involved in all aspects of payroll system setup, processing for 5,000 employees and coordinate across internal / external stakeholders, vendors and government agencies as necessary.
What You'll Do
- Prepare, support, and ensure accurate processing of and recording of company payroll.
- Ensure all payroll transactions are authorized and in compliance with company policies.
- Analyze multi-state payroll tax data and performs calculations, ensuring that payroll information is reported to Federal, state, and local agencies as required.
- Analyze and prepare month-end and year-end activities such as payment summary reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and audit support.
- Research, analyze and understand complex payroll records, summaries, and reports.
- Collaborate on the setup / configuration and testing of payroll related systems along with internal / external technology partners.
- Assist with annual account reconciliations and other payroll controls, such as balancing payroll results to payroll tax returns and to year-end Form W-2 statements.
- Make recommendations and assist in the review or development of reports, procedures, processes and controls.
- Work closely with and communicate payroll matters with HR and Finance teams, employees or managers, maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping payroll information confidential.
- Perform other tasks beyond those explicitly listed that fall within the general scope of the role.
