The Product Marketing Manager (PMM) fully understands the product's features, use applications, and competitive advantages, enabling them to create clear and cohesive messaging for both external customers and the sales team. The PMM trains sales representatives and customers, documents products and is responsible for all marketing collateral including website, literature, direct mail, email, social media, and catalogs.


The PMM may be responsible for a new product launch, or own mature products or product lines through obsolescence. The PMM is responsible for providing cohesive competitive advantages and key features to the marketing team, implementing a GTM strategy, and organizing obsolescence plans where appropriate. The PMM is ultimately responsible for the product line’s continual growth through sales training, promotion, and continuous improvement projects.


Products include current sensors, toxic gas detectors, indoor air quality sensors, wet and dry pressure transmitters, energy meters, relays, and water detectors. Most sales are done B2B and our products are not software based.


Responsibilities and Duties


1)  Product Management Tasks

               Deliverables

·        Market research on form and function, competitive analysis, part numbering, and pricing

·        Gather and/or compile voice of customer to support business cases

·        Design product labels for new or existing products

·        Create preliminary spec sheets and installation manuals

·        Evaluate product life cycles and create obsolescence plans

·        Perform focused market evaluations


2)  Marketing Management Tasks

               Deliverables

·        Clearly communicate product features and benefits through copy writing and illustrations

·        Create feature-benefit videos for web and emails

·        Create "How to" tech tips and application notes

·        Explore new marketing opportunities using social or other media platforms

·        Maintain website and catalog

·        Homogenize the look and feel of web banners, icons, photos, videos, presentations, and documentation

·        Manage trade shows including booth layout, swag, marketing collaterals, and product displays


3)  Salse Support Activities

Deliverables

  • Conduct product training and develop training aids for customers and reps including presentations, cross-references, competitive comparisons and sell sheets
  • Develop product promotions and sales incentives
  • Implement full sales/marketing capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics Customer Experience (CE), including segments and campaigns

·        Create strategic sales plans for product promotions or launches


Academic and Trade Qualifications

·        BA/BS required

·        MBA preferred

Work Experience/Skills

·        5 Years experience with sensors, controls, or related products in HVAC industry

·        5 years experience in B2B marketing

·        Ability to produce marketing collateral using Adobe CS5 Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and related video software

·        Technical aptitude to understand products, their applications, and key features

·        Strong writing skills

·        Skilled in social media platforms and their capabilities

·        Preferred: Experience with SEO for website optimization

·        Preferred: Experience with HTML web design
