Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on managing compliance for our NYC-based clients, ensuring that all properties adhere to the city’s complex rules, laws, and inspection requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property management or NYC real estate, with expertise in tracking violations, managing inspections, and ensuring timely resolution of compliance issues. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work from home while also requiring occasional visits to our NYC or Mount Kisco offices (approximately 2-3 days per week).
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with NYC building codes, laws, and regulations for all client properties.
- Create and maintain detailed spreadsheets for each building, tracking required inspections, deadlines, and compliance tasks.
- Use compliance software to monitor and manage violations levied against client properties.
- Coordinate with property managers, vendors, and legal teams to resolve violations and ensure timely dismissals.
- Conduct regular audits of client properties to identify potential compliance risks and address them proactively.
- Stay up-to-date on changes to NYC regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit required reports, documentation, and filings to NYC agencies as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement compliance best practices.
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate will have some experience in compliance, property management, or NYC-based real estate.
- Strong knowledge of NYC building codes, housing laws, and inspection requirements.
- Experience using compliance software or databases to track violations and manage cases.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a hybrid work environment.
- Familiarity with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and other relevant agencies is a plus.
