Growing Charter School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Librarian (preferred bilingual) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong commitment to manage and oversee the library program to provide students with access to an effective and engaging collection of print and digital resources. Support teachers and students in developing research skills, literacy, and a love for reading. Ensure the library functions as a dynamic and supportive learning environment aligned with the school's educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Educate students on effective research techniques and information literacy.
- Manage the Integrated Library System to ensure efficient cataloging and organization of library materials.
- Assist students in locating resources and utilizing library services effectively.
- Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment within the library.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom activities and curricula.
- Develop engaging programs and activities that promote reading and learning.
- Conduct regular assessments of library collections and recommend new acquisitions based on student needs.
- Provide support in classroom management during library-related activities or events.
- Stay updated on emerging learning technologies that can enhance library services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have Texas Education Agency Librarian Certification.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting.
- Proficiency in using Integrated Library Systems for cataloging and managing resources.
- Strong research skills with the ability to guide students through various information sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with students, staff, and parents.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to support student engagement in the library setting.
- Ability to adapt to new learning technologies and integrate them into library services.
