What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Finisher - COMMERCIAL ROOFING position at SERD?
SERD, LLC is hiring a Lightweight Insulating Concrete (LWIC) Finisher. A successful finisher has excellent attention to detail, can perform the duties of the job safely, and communicates closely with the Crew. You will be working directly for the Foreman and leveling the top surface of poured concrete on roofs of commercial buildings. You will assist in the placement of concrete poured and assist other team members by using various hand and power tools such as bull float, hand float/darby, screeds, float bars and others. You will also ensure that the work is completed correctly by leading the Crew in making corrections to the finish where needed. We will train you in all phases of the job. SERD is a specialty subcontractor providing lightweight insulating concrete (LWIC) roof decks, metal decking, tectum acoustical roof deck panels, and engineered fills. SERD was originally founded as Southeastern Roof Decks in 1963 and for 50 years primarily specialized in lightweight insulating concrete roof deck systems. SERD continues to provide top quality construction services to customers and operates in Georgia, Tennessee, The Carolinas, and Alabama.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prep the equipment site to keep the area clean during pumping process
- Monitor the speed of concrete application while equipment is in use
- Check the finished product to make sure it meets specifications
- Monitor how weather affects the various stages of concrete
- Recognize and report any unsafe jobsite condition
- Communicate clearly with ground and roof team members
- Exhibit leadership skills to Crew members
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
- Overtime as required
- Communication skills
- Travel to various job sites, 50% weekday overnight travel
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull heavy equipment (50 – 75 pounds)
- Must possess the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must possess good manual dexterity to climb around equipment and job site
- Ability to work at heights as well as access heights from a ladder
- Employees may be required to perform any other job-related tasks as requested by the Foreman
- Must enjoy working outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work occasional weekend day(s)
- 90-day probationary period
REQUIREMENTS – SERD, LLC is a drug-free workplace
- Potential candidates must be willing to submit to a preemployment drug screening to be considered for hire
- Experience working with concrete preferred
- Familiarity with proper handling of materials and equipment
- Normal vision and hearing
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Ability to assist with maintenance of equipment when needed
