What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Captain position at Serenity Sails?
We’re looking for skilled and passionate sailboat captains to helm our 45ft Seamaster Ketch, Serenity, guiding guests on unforgettable 3-, 6-, and 9-hour charters along the stunning Indian River Intracoastal Waterway.

What you’ll do
- Captain private charters for up to six passengers, ensuring smooth and safe voyages
- Navigate the Indian River’s scenic waterways with confidence and expertise
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and the vessel is properly maintained while operating
- Engage with guests, share local knowledge and create an amazing on-water experience
- Monitor navigation, speed and weather conditions to adjust course as needed
- Communicate with crew, passengers and other vessels
Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Licensed Captain – USCG Master’s License preferred
- Experienced navigator – Familiar with maritime rules, navigation and local waterways
- Safety-first mentality – Knowledge of emergency procedures and vessel maintenance
- Strong communicator & leader – Able to engage guests and work seamlessly with crew
- Adaptable & calm under pressure – Capable of handling changing weather and unexpected situations
- A people person – You enjoy making trips enjoyable, educational and fun for guests
