Position Overview:
As a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting individuals with medical needs to and from medical appointments, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort and well-being of our clients throughout their transportation experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Safe Transportation:
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Safely assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety during the journey.
- Secure passengers in wheelchairs or stretchers, ensuring proper fastening and safety measures are in place.
- Demonstrate knowledge and practice of defensive driving techniques to ensure the safety of passengers and other road users.
2. Route Planning and Navigation:
- Familiarize yourself with assigned routes and utilize GPS or navigation systems to efficiently reach destinations.
- Plan and adjust routes to account for traffic conditions, road closures, or other factors that may affect travel times.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the local area, including hospitals, clinics, and medical facilities, to ensure prompt and accurate transportation.
3. Client Assistance and Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service and care to clients, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the journey.
- Assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle, including providing support for individuals with mobility challenges.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, addressing any concerns or special needs they may have.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with clients, ensuring their dignity and privacy at all times.
4. Vehicle Maintenance and Reporting:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, documenting any issues or concerns and reporting them to the appropriate supervisor.
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle, both inside and outside.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as fueling, checking tire pressure, and maintaining fluid levels.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to the supervisor in a timely manner.
5. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, pick-up, and drop-off times, and any other required documentation.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, such as trip logs, incident reports, and client feedback forms, accurately and promptly.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience as a driver, preferably in a healthcare or transportation setting.
- Familiarity with wheelchair securement and other assistive equipment is desirable.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service, demonstrating empathy, patience, and a caring attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions, maintain a high level of reliability, and exercise sound judgment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to assist clients with mobility challenges.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening as required by company policy.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110.00 per day
