Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Community Planner to join our team in shaping the future of our community. In this role, you will contribute to various planning projects, conduct research and analysis, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop solutions that enhance the quality of life for all residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and Data Analysis:
Gather, analyze, and interpret demographic, socioeconomic, land use, transportation, and environmental data to inform planning decisions.
Utilize GIS software to create maps, analyze spatial patterns, and visually present data.
Conduct field surveys and site visits to assess existing conditions and gather information.
Plan Development and Implementation:
Assist in the development and update of comprehensive plans and functional plans.
Prepare written reports, policy recommendations, and presentations to communicate planning concepts and findings to stakeholders.
Project Management and Review:
Assist with reviewing development proposals for consistency with planning regulations and goals.
Prepare staff reports and presentations for various planning meetings.
Coordinate with other departments and agencies on planning-related projects.
Public Engagement and Collaboration:
Participate in state facility Board meetings, workshops, and charrettes to gather input and build consensus.
Develop and implement outreach strategies to inform residents and staff about planning initiatives.
Collaborate with organizations and other stakeholders to address planning issues.
Work Schedule:
- In office: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8-hour days
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, Regional Planning, or a related field. A master’s degree in a planning-related field is highly desirable.
Experience: One year of professional experience in community planning or a closely related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of planning principles, practices, and techniques.
Proficiency in using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for data analysis and mapping.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
