Job Summary:
The System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and monitoring all security and computer systems to meet the organization's current and future requirements. This includes overseeing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server, virtualized environments, internally developed applications, third-party tools, servers, and productivity/collaboration tools. The role involves maintaining and administering the LAN infrastructure, managing network configurations, troubleshooting network-related issues, and implementing network security measures. The System Administrator works closely with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless communication and functionality across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, install, and maintain LAN hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems and outages.
- Upgrade network systems with new technology and equipment to improve performance and functionality.
- Perform regular network maintenance to ensure systems are secure and reliable.
- Implement and maintain network security protocols to protect sensitive data and systems from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and security threats.
- Conduct regular security audits and updates to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for LAN-related issues to end-users and IT team members.
- Assist in training employees on network usage and security protocols.
- Maintain network documentation including network diagrams, hardware/software inventory, and configurations.
- Prepare and maintain reports on network performance, outages, and security incidents.
- Collaborate with IT team members and other departments to resolve complex network issues and implement solutions.
- Work with vendors and service providers to ensure network equipment and services meet organizational needs.
- Support the implementation of client and server architecture, including hardware platforms, client applications, server services, operating systems, storage networks, and network equipment.
- Support system architecture strategy and roadmaps for client/server implementations of various Microsoft-based solutions.
- Manage enterprise systems and applications including Windows Server, Exchange, File server, MDM, IIS, SQL, SCCM, VMware, AWS/Azure, Office 365, Hybrid Identities, MCAS, Active Directory, Encryption, and Information Protection.
- Research, analyze, and monitor system activity and network efficiency, advising management of anomalies and security concerns.
- Maintain and support backup and recovery of all systems and applications in the enterprise, including managing cloud data storage and testing for disaster recovery.
- Serve as an escalation point for Technical Support Associates.
- Administer user accounts, security permissions, user authentication, etc.
- Conduct root-cause analysis by identifying the source of internet or network connectivity issues. Configure and support network security tools to ensure proper defenses for each network resource.
- Document systems procedures and architecture.
- Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Monitor and maintain the enterprise virtualization and storage (SAN) environment.
- Responsible for patch management of all computer systems and network infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field.
- 3 years of Infrastructure and Systems Administration experience.
- 3 years of experience with Windows Server administration, including Active Directory (AD) and SCCM (Intune) administration.
- Experience with Ticketing Systems like JIRA, ServiceNow, or Remedy.
- Experience handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Extensive troubleshooting skills in network and server applications.
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, and network technologies.
- Hands-on experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP).
- Knowledge of automation, configuration management, and orchestration.
- Knowledge of network security practices and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of end-users and technical teams.
